Lab 04 of 09

Example: a joiner in Sunderland. A made-up business, drawn for this page. Not a client.

  1. Step 1 of 6

A blank page and a plan

It starts with a short conversation about the business, its customers and what the site needs to do.

  2. Step 2 of 6

    Structure first

The page goes in as plain boxes, each one where it will sit on the finished site.

  3. Step 3 of 6

    Type and words

The placeholder lines turn into a real headline, menu and button labels.

  4. Step 4 of 6

    Colour and photography

Colours and pictures go in and the wireframe falls away.

  5. Step 5 of 6

    Made for phones

The same page rearranged for a small screen: the menu folds behind a button and the content stacks.

  6. Step 6 of 6

    Live

You see the finished site first. Then it goes live.

Keep scrolling to build it, or jump to a step.

How it's built

Each part of the page builds in as you scroll, with no outside libraries.

Each step fades in from the page's own scroll position, using CSS scroll-driven animations. Browsers without them get a small observer instead, and with reduced motion you see the finished site.
