Client: Back To Basics Dog Training Sunderland · Sarah Crossley · Group Classes, 1:1 Training & Agility
Back To Basics has been running dog training classes in Sunderland since April 2012. They had a 5.0 rating from 37 Google reviews, over 5,700 Facebook likes and a genuinely busy timetable — and no website at all. Everything ran through social media messages, while every established competitor in the city already had a site.
The job was to build their first proper website: somewhere people could find the classes, read the prices, see the venue and get in touch without having to chase a reply in a comment thread. Their reputation was already there, so the site had to reflect it accurately rather than talk it up.
Delivered as a fixed-scope build plus an ongoing monthly care plan covering hosting oversight, updates and new blog content. The site went live in July 2026.
| Problem | Solution Implemented |
|---|---|
| No website at all — invisible to anyone searching instead of scrolling social media | Built and launched a 13-page WordPress site covering home, about, classes and prices, contact, gallery, qualifications, FAQ and blog, plus two dedicated local landing pages for puppy classes and 1:1 training. |
| Two conflicting phone numbers were published across Facebook and Google | Confirmed the correct number with the client and made the name, address and phone consistent across every page, the footer, the click-to-call links and the structured data. |
| Nothing on the site would tell Google what the business actually was | Added a full JSON-LD schema layer — LocalBusiness, Service, 21 FAQ entries, blog posts, breadcrumbs and site search — written honestly, with no rating or review count asserted that the site itself could not back up. |
| The client supplied 524 MB of phone footage in a format browsers do not play | Transcoded the HEVC clips to web-ready H.264 at 43 MB total, then used them as a muted autoplay hero video and a click-to-play clip section — with a poster-image fallback and full respect for reduced-motion and data-saver settings. |
| Marketing language risked claiming things the business had not actually said | Ran a line-by-line fact-check of the whole site against the client’s own intake form. Removed unsupported training-method claims, corrected “40+ years” to “40+ years combined”, fixed a misspelled trainer name and stripped decorative star ratings from written testimonials. |
| The site needed to hold up on real phones, not just on a desktop preview | Audited every page across seven widths from 320px to 1440px with zero horizontal overflow, alongside skip links, visible focus states, labelled forms, a single H1 per page and optimised responsive images. |
