Back To Basics Dog Training — First Website for a Club That Needed One

Client: Back To Basics Dog Training Sunderland · Sector: Dog training club · Live: July 2026

1 | Brief

Back To Basics had been running dog training classes in Sunderland since 2012. Strong local reputation, a 5.0 Google rating, thousands of Facebook followers. No website. Every enquiry came through social media, and every competitor already had a proper web presence to catch the searches that the club was missing entirely.

The ask was straightforward: build a first website where people could find the classes, read the prices, see the venue and get in touch without waiting for a reply buried in a comment thread. It also needed to sort out a practical problem the client already knew about: two different phone numbers had been live simultaneously across Facebook and Google.

The build was a fixed-scope project followed by a monthly care plan, with a blog structure ready to be filled out over time.

2 | Key Goals

  • Give a well-established club its first website so it shows up in search, not just to people already following the socials.
  • Publish the class timetable, the 1:1 options and real prices in a form people can read before they pick up the phone.
  • Resolve the conflicting phone numbers and make the business details consistent everywhere they appear.
  • Build dedicated pages for the local searches that matter, including puppy classes and 1:1 training in Sunderland.
  • Use the club's own photos and footage throughout, so the site looks like the actual hall and the actual dogs, not a stock library.
  • Keep every claim on the site traceable to what the client actually said, with no invented credentials or ratings.
  • Set up a blog structure ready to grow month by month under the care plan.

3 | Solution Snapshot

Problem Solution Implemented
No website at all, leaving the club invisible to anyone searching rather than scrolling social media. Built and launched a 13-page WordPress site covering home, about, classes & prices, contact, gallery, qualifications, FAQ and blog, plus two dedicated local landing pages for puppy classes and 1:1 training in Sunderland.
Two conflicting phone numbers published across Facebook and Google. Confirmed the correct number with the client and made the name, address and phone consistent across every page, the footer, click-to-call links and the structured data.
Nothing on the site told Google what the business actually was. Added a full JSON-LD schema layer covering LocalBusiness, Service, 21 FAQ entries, blog posts and breadcrumbs. No review count or rating was included because the site itself could not back those up.
The client supplied 524 MB of phone footage in formats browsers don't play well. Transcoded the clips to web-ready H.264 at 43 MB total, then used them as a muted autoplay hero and a click-to-play section, with poster-image fallbacks and respect for reduced-motion and data-saver preferences.
Draft copy risked claiming things the business hadn't actually said, including training method language and an unverified figure. Ran a line-by-line fact-check against the client's intake form: removed unsupported method claims, corrected a figure to read '40+ years combined', fixed a misspelled trainer name and stripped decorative star ratings from written testimonials.
The site needed to hold up on real phones, not just a desktop preview. Audited every page across seven widths from 320px to 1440px with no horizontal overflow, plus skip links, visible focus states, labelled forms and a single H1 per page. QA ran through an automated Playwright pass covering every page.

4 | Impact

  • A club that had no web presence at all now has a 13-page site with dedicated local landing pages and a blog ready to grow.
  • The business details are consistent across the site, the footer, the structured data and the click-to-call links. The conflicting phone number problem is resolved.
  • 524 MB of raw phone footage has been transcoded and is live as self-hosted video at 43 MB, used in two distinct ways across the site.
  • A full JSON-LD schema layer is in place across every page type, built honestly without ratings or review counts the site can't support.
  • Seven custom mu-plugins handle SEO schema, motion preferences, breadcrumbs, local business data and a branded 404, keeping the core theme clean.
  • The site was handed over with a monthly care plan in place and a content structure ready for the client to build on over time.

I first met luke in Danang Vietnam , Who came to my clinic to see me for a Sports Massage? I really nice guy genuine and is upfront with everything he talks about very passionate about his work. After treating Luke for his issues I spoke about my business and for him to take a look at my present website and gave me an audit and ideas of how to improve on it and things that could mive me forward with clients . I have recently spoken to him again, and I am looking forward in the not to near future to working with him and pushing my business forward . Thanks again Luke 😀👍
